Rain hampers Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test

SHARJAH: Constant rain made no play possible before lunch on the fifth morning of the third and final cricket Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Monday.

Both the umpires inspected the ground as covers were already in place before the scheduled start at 10:00 am (0600 GMT) and as it continued to rain there was no possibility of play.

Sri Lanka were due to resume their second innings at 164-5, an overall lead of 237 runs. They are aiming to level the series in Sharjah after losing the second Test in Dubai by nine wickets.

"The umpires will asses the situation after the break before taking any decision," it was announced.

The first Test in Abu Dhabi ended in a draw.

Opener Tharanga Paranavitana was unbeaten on 66 and Kosala Kulasekara was four not out. (AFP)
